Lot of 5 Antique Blown Opaline Apothecary jars. Spain, Circa 1940
A magnificent lot of 5 antique blown opaline apothecary jars, manufactured in Spain circa 1940 and in excellent condition. Despite their fragility, the jars have survived to the present day intact and without cracks, chips, or damage. They stand out for the beauty of the material from which they are made: a translucent white glass with subtle bluish tones. Opaline began to be produced in France in the early 19th century; it is a vitreous material similar to Venetian lattimo (milky) glass or the white glass manufactured in Bristol, England. During the Napoleonic era, opaline items became very popular and were produced in French towns such as Baccarat and in some cities in England. Each of these jars, with a capacity of 550 ml, is a unique piece; in fact, each lid can only be placed on the mouth of its own jar and does not fit any other.
Lovers of delicate and subtle pieces will appreciate the charm and beauty of this set of 5 antique blown opaline apothecary jars, perfect for use as decorative objects or vanity accessories.
