This curious item is a small optician's lens case, manufactured in the 1940s-1950s and originating from Germany. The case contains all the lenses, of various diopters, arranged in pairs. The lenses and the frame used for trying them on are stored in a beautiful, understated black case, with an interior lined in red satin and velvet that is magnificently preserved, retaining its vivid, brilliant color and showing no damage or signs of wear. The case is compartmentalized to safely store the delicate lenses.

When we open the case, we find the lenses neatly organized using two gold-plated metal plates. The word "CONCAV" is embossed on one of the plates, while the other bears the term "CONVEX." This is an excellent way to organize the lenses and keep them in order without any possibility of confusion. Two sets of numbers (one for the concave lenses and one for the convex ones) are also engraved in gold, indicating the diopters of each pair of lenses with consecutive numbers ranging from 0.5 to 8. On the back of the case, one compartment holds two additional lenses marked with the numbers 10 and 16, and a larger compartment is designed to hold the metal frame.

The lenses have their corresponding diopter numbers engraved on the glass to prevent any confusion. The exterior of the case is covered in an understated black material with an embossed faux-leather finish, which is also in good condition. The clasp, made of attractive gold-colored metal, adds a shiny and luxurious touch to the whole piece. This fantastic and delicate optical lens case will shine with its own light in a display case alongside the most original scientific artifacts, adding personality and distinction to any collection worth its salt.
