A small and delicate case containing three gold-plated metal magnifying glasses of different sizes, used for numismatics and tasks requiring precision. The lenses are protected by a case that is likely not the original one intended to hold them, but which does date from the same period. The set is a charming and original item that has also survived to the present day in good condition. The magnifying glasses, in three different sizes, have intact glass and metal in good condition.

The hinges that connect the metal parts and allow the magnifying glasses to stand upright for use function perfectly. The metal has developed an aged patina from the passage of time and use, which gives these magnifying glasses a very special charm and a strong sense of authenticity. This type of magnifying glass is typically used to examine small objects, particularly in numismatics and philately, where it is often necessary to look closely at certain details of coins or stamps to gather information or verify their authenticity. They are also used in textile-related tasks, such as screen printing or canvas restoration, where they are often referred to as "thread counters."

The case in which the set of magnifying glasses is stored is lined on the outside with a black faux leather material. On the lid, we can see the following inscription in gold Gothic letters: NEUJAHR 1881 (New Year 1881, in German). It is very likely that this case was not originally intended for storing the lenses, but it is undoubtedly perfect for this purpose. The interior is lined with two-tone satin: cream for the lid and a beautiful, deep blue for the box.

This set of precision lenses has withstood the test of time and has come down to us in excellent condition. It is undoubtedly an item full of charm and functionality that any collector of special objects will love to own.
