This curious instrument is a French military inclinometer, manufactured circa 1915. It retains all its parts and is presented in a beautiful solid tropical wood box. Inclinometers are instruments used to measure the angle of inclination of a plane. They are used in surveying. Both the device and the case are in very good condition, making this a highly decorative and interesting set.

The inclinometer retains all its original parts in good condition. It features a telescope, a bubble level, an arc with a numerical scale, and an eyepiece. It is mounted on a base and a ruler, which has two graduated scales on both sides. The set is lacquered in black with silver-plated and brass parts, such as the arc with the scale and the two scales on the ruler. Although the finish shows some slight signs of wear-which is to be expected given the instrument's age and use-overall the inclinometer looks very attractive and is surprisingly well-preserved considering how many years have passed since it was manufactured.

On the ruler, we can see the instrument's serial number engraved on the black surface: 10142. Two initials, M. G., are also engraved. Furthermore, on the telescope we can make out the inscription E. DERONZI & Cie. - GENTILLY - SEINE, corresponding to the name of the French optical and measuring instruments company that manufactured and marketed the device. The case in which this inclinometer is stored is exceptionally beautiful, crafted from solid tropical wood that displays an attractive golden-brown color with dark, flowing grain patterns. The case features a series of screws and metal fittings that enhance both its aesthetic appeal and functionality.
