Naval Fog Signal Horn, Manufactured in Sweden in the Early 20th Century. Well-Preserved

This unique device is a marine signal horn, used on ships to signal their presence in fog or poor weather conditions. Made of gilded brass, the horn is in good condition. It works well, although its sound is not very loud, likely due to wear on the valve over time. The horn is very old, having been manufactured in the early 20th century; it is about a hundred years old and is a 100% original item from that era.

The horn features a simple yet striking aesthetic, with a functional design full of nostalgic charm. It is made of polished brass; the metal is in good condition, with no dents or dings and no traces of rust. The exterior finish has a slightly weathered appearance due to the passage of time and use, which lends the piece even more charm and authenticity. On the upper horn of the horn, we can see a brass stamp, engraved with raised letters and secured to the metal with rivets. Circular in shape, it displays the brand name and place of origin: TYFON - TRADE MARK - MALMO - SWEDEN. The horn's serial number is also engraved: 0588.

The back of the bell, perforated to allow air propelled by the valve to escape, is engraved so that an inscription in capital letters can be read: TYFON PATENT. It is an original and highly decorative detail. The horn is movable: it can be folded back and positioned parallel to the body of the horn when the device is not in use, while to operate it, you must rotate it and align it with the cylinder. The valve handle-which must be pulled out and pressed to direct air into the horn-is made of black-painted wood. This is the original part of the horn, which can still be operated today to make the device sound.
