Fantastic antique barograph with a glass case and all its original parts and components, well-preserved and in working order. This magnificent instrument comes from England, where it was manufactured in the early 20th century (circa 1900), although the clockwork mechanism was made in Switzerland. The barograph stands out for its quality and beauty, serving as a highly decorative piece as well as a fully functional instrument. This device was manufactured by the prestigious London firm Ross Ltd. and exemplifies the high quality and beautiful design of the scientific instruments marketed by the company.

The impressive barograph shown in the photos features a solid mahogany base with four small legs. The wood is in excellent condition. The frame that encloses the mechanism is also made of this same material: mahogany slats supporting sheets of clear glass. The mechanism is made of gilded brass and silver-plated metal; on the brass base of the cylinder containing the graph paper, we can see the inscription SWISS MADE and the serial number 8314 engraved. This mechanism is similar to that found in watches: the company likely sourced these types of components from a Swiss firm to manufacture its instruments. On a wooden rod attached to the mechanism, the inscription ROSS 13/14 GT. CASTLE STREET, LONDON is engraved.

This antique barograph is a fully functional precision instrument, with all the charm of Victorian-era devices.
