Beautiful French Set of Solid Silver Chalice and Paten. 19th Century. Hallmarked and in Original Case

Attractive set of solid silver chalice and paten, made in France in the 19th century. The pieces are presented in their original period case, which has undoubtedly helped preserve them in the excellent condition they are in today. Both pieces bear hallmarks that guarantee the origin and quality of the silver from which they are made. The set is highly decorative and elegant, with a sober and refined design that makes it a piece of timeless beauty. The chalice is hallmarked on the base and the bowl, while the paten also bears its corresponding hallmarks clearly engraved into the metal.

The base of the chalice is wide and circular in shape. It is decorated with a simple diamond pattern, and the rim features a border of golden triangles. It is precisely on this border where the hallmarks are located. Where it joins the base, the stem flares out to form a motif of leaves that rest delicately upon it. Above these leaves is a small knop formed by three circular moldings, atop which sits the main knop. This main knop has a flattened spherical shape, divided into segments. Above it, the stem opens again into stylized leaves that hold the gilded silver cup.

For its part, the paten displays the same simple decorative beauty as the chalice it accompanies. Its concave side is completely smooth, without any ornamentation. The convex underside features a gilded rim and is engraved in the center with a geometric motif: a four-petaled flower inscribed within a series of concentric circles. The flower's interior contains schematic decorative details arranged symmetrically, resembling medieval clovers. Near the gilded rim, we can see the same hallmarks found on the chalice. The entire set is stored in a cardboard case lined with black fabric, with the interior lined with red felt.

This exquisite liturgical set is destined to display all its beauty in the finest of display cases.
