Original 19th-Century Gilded Brass Standing Crucifix. Made in France. In Excellent Condition

This exquisite gilded brass crucifix dates from the 19th century and was made in France. It has been preserved in excellent condition despite being over a hundred years old. The crucifix is 57 centimeters tall and is a very striking piece, both for its size and its beautiful decoration. It consists of a stylized cross rising from a base, with the classic figure of Christ Crucified at the top, crafted with harmony and attention to detail.

The base on which the cross stands is rectangular in shape. It rests on four small, curved, carved legs and is adorned with beautiful Renaissance-style flame-shaped moldings. On the front is a medallion engraved with the image of the Lamb of God, a symbol of Jesus Christ. Above the base, a cup-shaped motif supports the cross, which rises above the entire piece, creating an airy and elegant work.

The upper part of this piece is the most striking and significant. There we can see the figure of Christ Crucified, a freestanding sculpture handcrafted from gilded metal. It is a harmonious figure with balanced proportions, displaying great realism in the muscles and limbs. Above the head of Jesus Christ, we can see the classic parchment-shaped plaque bearing the inscription INRI, which designates the Redeemer as King of the Jews. Around the cross, a series of metal rays radiate from the top of the piece: this symbolizes that Jesus Christ is the Light of the World.

Lovers of religious and sacred antiques will appreciate the beauty and harmony of this antique French crucifix.
