This fantastic bishop's chalice is a first-class piece of religious craftsmanship-a large, original chalice made entirely of solid silver. The chalice originates from France and is decorated with hand-engraved motifs on the metal, which greatly enhance its beauty. The piece is very old, having been crafted in the 19th century, between 1830 and 1850; however, it has been preserved in magnificent condition and today displays all its beauty just as it did on the first day. The chalice weighs 736 grams and features engravings throughout, making it a true work of sacred art.

The base on which the cup rests is round and very wide. It features a rim decorated with floral motifs and palm fronds tied with ribbons. The body of the base is of great decorative beauty: it is carved with delicate motifs depicting clusters of grapes and reeds, accompanied by medallions depicting scenes from the life of Jesus Christ. Above the base, the stem features a large knop decorated with images of bunches of grapes (symbolizing wine, the Blood of Christ in the Eucharist) and reeds, which allude to the strength and flexibility of the human soul.

These same plant motifs are reproduced on the base supporting the cup, creating filigree patterns that allow the smooth surface of this piece to be seen through them. Interspersed among these motifs are additional medallions engraved with scenes from the life of Jesus. The chalice is made of gilded silver, smooth in finish, with a gracefully outward-curving rim. As mentioned at the beginning, all parts of the chalice bear hallmarks indicating that they are crafted from the highest-quality solid silver.
