Large Spanish Bronze Candlesticks Made in the 20th Century. Well-Preserved

A pair of solid bronze candlesticks of Spanish origin, made in the 20th century. These are two impressive pieces, large in size and weight, which were most likely intended to adorn a church altar. The candlesticks are a matching pair, stylized, of considerable height, and elegant in appearance. They are very well preserved and would make the perfect piece to adorn an elegant fireplace or the landing of a stately staircase. The design features a solid three-legged base that provides stability and balance.

The base is adorned with Baroque-style volutes engraved into the metal. The legs are geometric, though they show a certain inspiration drawn from animal claws. Above the base is a smooth pedestal atop which sits a lobed sphere, and the vertical shaft is inserted directly into this piece. Midway up the shaft is a beautiful decorative detail: a knop adorning each candlestick, delicately carved with plant-inspired motifs. Each stem is also decorated with geometric motifs carved into the metal, depicting triangular shapes.

At the top of the candlesticks are the cups where the candles are placed. Beneath each one, a delicate saucer designed to catch melted wax completes each piece, adding balance and beauty in addition to its practical function. These saucers feature a lovely flower shape with finely lobed edges. The candelabra are attached to their bases with nuts and can be disassembled for transport or cleaning. These two magnificent pieces of engraved bronze form an item brimming with elegance, which will transform even the most elegant living room into a very special space.
