Antique Spanish Chalice Made of Gilded Metal and Brass. Late 19th Century

A beautiful, highly elegant antique chalice, crafted from gilded metal and brass in the late 19th century. This piece is of Spanish origin and is particularly appealing due to its age (it is over a hundred years old) and its understated beauty. This chalice is delicately turned, forming a very attractive silhouette, with no adornment other than the metal's luster, the harmony of its proportions, and the gentle, curved shapes of varying configurations. The dimensions and shapes of the base, the stem, and the bowl are perfectly balanced, creating a piece full of charm and beauty.

The base of the chalice is wide and solid, featuring an elegant raised section upon which the stem rests. The stem displays various turned shapes, beginning with a smooth cylindrical base from which a series of concave and convex forms emerge, separated by thinner circular projections. The stem is quite elongated, which contrasts with the small size of the chalice at its top. The chalice features a turned base from which rises a smooth cup, slightly wider toward the rim. The cup is made of gilded metal, and its interior displays a dazzling reddish-gold color and is in very good condition.

The chalice is well-preserved, although it shows a small restoration in the center of the stem. The simplicity of this piece's ornamentation is undoubtedly its greatest appeal, along with its age: the design relies solely on turned forms, without any engraved motifs or complex carvings. Thanks to its refined design and simplicity, this chalice deserves a prominent place in a display case dedicated to the most exceptional religious antiques.
