Fine French Chalice with Hallmarked Solid Silver Cup. Year 1888. With Dedication and Original Case

Elegant French chalice of simple and stylized beauty, manufactured in 1888. This magnificent religious object is made of solid silver and metal, with the cup-which is properly hallmarked-crafted from silver. The rest of the piece is made of silver-plated metal, which is smooth, shiny, and in perfect condition. The interior of the cup is gilded in a rich, attractive tone characteristic of this type of piece. The chalice comes in its original period case, which has allowed the piece to survive to the present day in very good condition.

One of the most striking details of this valuable antique piece is the engraved dedication on the base. It reads MAURICE GRAND' EURY 7 BRE 1888. This inscription clearly identifies the chalice's date of creation as the late 19th century. The letters are in an antique style and are finely engraved. The rest of the chalice's decoration is remarkably simple, consisting of stylized, symmetrical floral motifs that lend the piece a beautiful touch of distinction. On the base of the cup, we see four large engraved leaves that extend from the stem as if it were the calyx of a flower.

On the cup itself, there are two hallmarks engraved in the silver, which serve to guarantee the quality and origin of the silver used to craft this part of the chalice. Meanwhile, the original case in which the piece is preserved still allows it to be stored comfortably. The case also retains the ribbons used to securely fasten the lid.

This beautiful and elegant French chalice is a jewel of 19th-century sacred art, and as such is destined to take pride of place in the finest of collections.
