This exquisite piece is a pedestal for ornaments or sculptures, crafted from solid silver and genuine malachite. It is a highly decorative item dating from the mid-20th century (the 1950s). The pedestal features a solid and balanced design, with an original combination of clean lines and floral decoration. The base of the pedestal is made entirely of solid silver, as is the circular top piece. It is shaped like a truncated pyramid and stands on six legs integrated into the body. It has four sides, all identical to one another. The background of each side is made of silver-gilt and is hallmarked; against this backdrop, charming, symmetrical wildflowers stand out. Each motif is surrounded by a fine border of unplated silver. In the center of each side is a circle of green malachite that stands out against the subtle gilded background.

Above the base rises a malachite cylinder that supports the upper section, designed to hold the sculpture or ornament. The cylinder is thick and smooth, and atop it rises a set of circular pieces of varying sizes. The first is a malachite circle; next rests a silver-gilt piece engraved with flowers; and finally comes the upper base, made of malachite and larger in size. Together, the parts create a balanced and harmonious whole: the stones beautiful green color and its distinctive veining form a perfect pairing with the silver.
