Big modernist-style gramophone-phonograph made in Germany circa 1920, with an elaborated brass horn and hand-carved wooden box. The machine is not a standardized model but is built with antique parts of different models, resulting in a spectacular design device. The beautiful light-colored wooden box stands on a similar drawer, making up a balanced stepped design. The drawer is designed to store records; both pieces have curved legs at the corners of clear modernist inspiration. The wood is decorated with simple symmetrical vegetal motifs, carved by hand. Both the box and the drawer bear a fine French-polish finish which provides them with a gorgeous satin glow. The motor and the reproducer are antique pieces, though they are not the original ones the motor was replaced and so was the speed regulator. The device works and sounds great. This big modernist-style gramophone is a real collectors piece, perfect to enjoy the nostalgic sound of turn-of-the-century records.
