Striking collection of Edison Diamond discs in album, produced circa 1920 and in really fine condition. The collection is composed of 50 discs, gathered in five albums containing ten units each. The albums are custom-made according to the owners needs and taste; they were probably manufactured in the 1980s or 90s. These are quite special discs, really thick and only to be played in Edison Diamond record players. If used in other machines, the needle would make them harm. Some of these discs are quite rare, real collectors items and very sought-after. The Edison Diamond Disc Record was phonograph record created by Thomas A. Edison under his company, Edison Record. They were produced and sold between 1912 and 1929. They named it Diamond because the matching phonograph was equipped with a diamond stylus to play them. In the beginning, the records were quite successful for their excellent sound quality; in 1920 sales reached their peak. Nevertheless, soon after they started to decay for different reasons: they were more expensive and not compatible with other phonographs. The insistence of Edison in imposing his own musical tastes was also a handicap, as he favored old-fashioned shows and tunes instead of giving a chance to jazz, the real sensation then. The collection include the following records: Album 1: 1 A (#80131) - Just Because Its You The Little Café (Ivan Caryll) Elizabeth Spencer 1 B (#80131) - The bubble High Jinks (Friml) Emory B.
