Spectacular medal formed by Necklace and Breast Commanders Cross, highest distinction. It is the Yoke and Arrows Order. This medal was awarded to Jose Antonio Serrano Montalvo, Chief of the SEU (Spanish University Sindicate) and who became Civil Governor of Lerida and Tarragona, and afterwards was a counsel for the National Press Delegation. The set comes into a personalized luxury case, with the base velvet renewed, and its quality is enhanced by the value of the materials it is made of, and its magnificent condition. The complete set comes into a delicate case made of red-colored wood: The Necklace Cross, the Breast Cross and two miniatures. All the medals are made of solid silver, enameled in red and black except for two exceptions: a miniature made of solid gold and the element that joins the necklace with the Cross, made of solid gold and authentic diamonds. All the pieces show the motive of the yoke and the arrows, a symbol of the Spanish Falange, with the inscription Caesar Caesari Dei Deo. It is a sentence in Latin which appeared in the New Testament, which means Give the Caesar which belongs to the Caesar, to God which belongs to God. The Necklace Cross is linked to a moiré band in red with a black strip in the middle. On the case there is a silver plate with an inscription: Al Excmo. Sr. D. José Antonio Serrano Montalvo, de los Consejos Provincial y Locales del Movimiento de Organización Sindical de Lérida Julio 1967. This plate testifies for the propriety of the medal, its quality and its undeniable origin, and it is an exclusive detail that increases its value. The Yoke and Arrows Order was a medal that, in Pro-Franco Spain, was the highest possible award for distinguished services to the nation, although it could also be awarded to non-Spanish personalities. In fact, the first medal given was the Great Necklace of the Yuke and Arrows Order, which was for Victor Manuel III, Mussolini y Hitler: they were the only people who received the distinction. The yoke and the arrows, on the other hand, are a symbol of the JONS and Spanish Falange, although first they were the symbol of the Catholic King and Queen. Curiously enough, it was a socialist professor from the University of Granada who suggested that it could be the perfect symbol for a Spanish way of fascism, suggestion which was collected by one of his students, who proposed it (successfully) for the JONS. Overall, the quality of this medal, its historical and military relevance and the exclusive value of the materials of which it is made are reasons enough as to become part of the best collection of medals and military antiques.
