Wonderful Medal in Solid Enameled Silver, with Parts in Gold and Diamonds. 1960s. This elegant and valuable medal is the Necklace and Breast Commanders Cross of the Order of Alphonso X The Wise. The medal is composed of two pieces: the Necklace and Breast Commanders Cross. They are both made of solid high-quality silver, with a high attention to detail. The silver is enameled in various colors: white, dark red, blue and red, which highlight the beauty of the design. The Cross has four lobed arms decorated with dark red motives on a black background. In the centre there is a circle which hosts the symbolic image of king Alphonso X, who is holding an eagle on one hand and a sphere with a cross on the other. He is surrounded by a circular border with the inscriptionAlfonso X The Wise, King od Castilla and Leon. The Necklace Cross hangs from a red band, and the link from which it hangs is made of solid gold and diamonds. The Order of Alphonso X The Wise rewards the merits obtained in the fields of education, science, teaching or research to Spanish or foreigner individuals or entities. So it is a medal which rewards the knowledge and the study. It is an added value for this medal, which is really a part of Spanish history and which shows a good condition, enhanced by the quality of its materials and the beauty of its making.
