Decorative pair of calamine sculptures depicting two eagles each one on a pedestal, made of calamine in the 1930-40s. This set comes from France and is composed of two figures of eagles with their wings open perching on rocks; teach rock is located on an elegant four-legged pedestal. The two eagles are identical though one of them carries a bird in its beck, while the other has lost it. The attention to detail and its appealing look simulating blued bronze turn these figures in highly decorative pieces with a remarkable aesthetic beauty. As stated before, the birds are perching on rocks with their wings open as if they were about to fly. One of the two eagles has obviously lost the small figure of a bird which it carried in its beck, while the other one keeps it. Nevertheless, the good look of this set of sculptures is still evident and also its elegance and great making. The eagles are about seventy years old, and its old age turns them into a valuable vintage set full of history and charm. The details that adorn the birds and the rocks they are perched on are quite subtle and skilfully performed. We could say the same about the pedestals where the figures stand on, nicely performed and decorated with classical patters and fringes, and with vegetal-inspired garlands. Each pedestal stands on four delicate convex legs that provide the figures with a graceful and lightweight look.Measurements: Width: 265 mm. Height: 365 mm.
