Outstanding facsimile of the book Collection of Plates about Sciences, Liberal Arts and Mechanic Arts published in Paris, France in 1965. This is the 2nd volume of a dictionary of sciences, in wonderful condition and with 201 engravings with images full of details. The images are printed in black ink and depict all kind of mechanisms, techniques, tools and systems used in different professions and trades. The chapters include techniques and utensils for carriage construction, hunting, surgery, knife-making, graphic design, textile confection, pottery and watchmaking, among others. Some of the plates are divided in two parts. At the top we can see a scene of some people doing the corresponding job, while at the bottom there is a display of the tools. We can also find curious etchings such as musical scores, dictionaries of symbols or images of different fencing positions. The book is quite big, thick and heavy, and all the images and pages remain in great condition. The paper shows no signs of rust, foxing or wear at all. At the beginning of the book there is a complete index with a relation of the chapters and their contents. The books cover is made of light-brown leather with darker shades. The spine bears the engraved inscription DICTIONNAIRE DE SCIENCES PLANCHES, TOME II in golden lettering.
