This smart vintage gramophone is an original His Masters Voice reproducer made in England the early 20th century. It was electrified in the 30s or 40s and its motor dates from this time too: it is an electric device that substitutes the former one, operated by a crank. The gramophone works wonderfully and the motor is quite silent. It can reproduce records with a high-quality sound. Just by the volume control we can see a small lever: a switch to turn it on and off. Otherwise the box, the reproducer and the rest of the components of this gramophone are original and make up a charming and highly decorative article. His Masters Voice is the market name that the Gramophone Company adopted in the early 20th century to name its products. The classic logo shows a dog listening to his deceased masters voice emitted by a horn gramophone. The original picture was painted by Francis Barraud who sold it to the company in 1899. From them on this logo has become an iconic image that was later acquired by other trademarks. In this particular gramophone is printed inside the lid, together with the companys name and a recommendation: CLOSE LID WHILS PLAYING.The gramophones box is made of solid wood, boasting a nice and sober dark red tone. At the front side the wood has been cut in a classic filigree shape. The panel is closed with a thin fabric that lets the sound out. The hole where the crank was originally located lets out the current electric wire that brings the motor to life. The gramophones reproducer is the original one, an EXHIBITION Nº 5A. It is a quality device that has survived to our days in perfect condition and working order. This attractive vintage gramophone sounds greatly and is a wonderfully stylish article. It will be a great find for any lover of music and antiques.Measurements (open): Width: 18.5 in/47 cm. Height: 21.6 in/55 cm.
