This amazing suitcase or portable gramophone is a design by the brand His Masters Voice, more precisely model 97. It was manufactured in England in the 1930s for the French market, something that we can tell from the inscription with the market name in French printed inside the cover. The gramophone draws our attention for its impressive condition: as well as being wonderfully preserved it works perfectly and provides a high quality sound. All its component parts are the original ones and make up a very interesting article for collectors and music lovers. As stated before, inside the cover we can see the famous brand logo depicting a dog that listens to the sound coming from a gramophone. This logo was adopted by The Gramophone Company in 1899 after buying a painting by Francis Barraud titled His Masters Voice. The picture showed the dog Nipper listening to his dead masters voice from a horn gramophone. This image became enormously famous and with the trace of time the own record company changed its name for His Master`s Voice. The logo printed in this gramophone is very well preserved and shows the famous image in full color accompanied by the French market name, La Voix de Son Maitre. Under the picture there is a printed sentence that reads IMPORTE DANGLETERRE. The reproducer or soundbox is an original HMV model and in its front side we can see the embossed logo clearly reproduced in the metal. On its back we find the engraved British patent numbers: 268257 and 264263, and the inscription FABRIQUÉ EN ANGLETERRE too. Any music and antique gramophone lover will recognize this wonderful models interest and charm. Measurements (closed): Width: 11.4 in / 29 cm. Height: 5.9 in / 15 cm. Depth: 14.5 in / 37 cm.
