Rare single string tailpiece gramophone violin, made by Augustus Stroh in 1910 and in perfect condition. 88 cms long. The reproducer is housed in the body. Everything is in perfect used condition. An extraordinarily rare hybrid between musical instrument and gramophone and a superb collector's item.These extraordinarily rare instruments, were developed on the threshold of the 20th century, in the first instance, to aid in wax cylinder recordings for phonographs, with a sharper sound needed. With the improvement of recording techniques this phono-instrument enjoyed some popularity. Augustus Stroh was the pioneer in the market and produced instruments of the best quality. Violins, violas, cellos, double basses, guitars and ukuleles were produced. Each of the versions coming off his string are very rare today.
