Rare and original antique grand-piano-shaped gramophone, in amazing condition and great working order. The gramophones trade mark is The Standard Melody and was made in France in 1930. The motor stands out for its excellent working order; it enables the device to sound fine, neat and clear. The gramophone itself is a singular and decorative piece with an original shape that reproduces an ancient grand piano. All the devices component parts and pieces are original from the period and make up an exclusive and very special item. The gramophone is made of mahogany wood with some parts covered by mahogany veneer. The whole piece is greatly preserved. The wood maintains the original glowing finish, carefully restored in order to preserve the shiny look that we can appreciate in the images. The veneers are disposed in different directions so they create a dynamic and attractive design. If we lift the fall board, under it we will find the small-scale keyboard that reproduces a real pianos one. Inside the board there is a riveted triangular metal plate with the gramophones trade mark, THE STANDARD MELODY. In order to reach the turntable and the rest of the gramophones component parts, we only have to lift the top lid. Under it we will see the tone-arm and the reproducer: they only have to be connected in place in order to play records. The lid can be supported by a wooden lid prop that keeps the top piece up while the gramophone is running. This singular antique grand-piano shaped gramophone will delight any lover of curious, authentic and quality pieces. Measurements (Open Lid): Width: 21.6 in / 55 cm. Height: 25.1 in / 64 cm.
