Antique Colibri pocket gramophone made in Belgium in 1930, in perfect working order and with all its original component parts and pieces. This small device (Colibri means hummingbird) displays an excellent sound, very surprising considering its ancient age and small size. It is in great condition, with finely preserved outside covering and chrome-plated metalwork. The mechanism is stored and mounted on a small rectangular suitcase covered of black leatherette. The suitcase has an attached carrying strap made of black leather, also in good condition and with the COLIBRI brand name in embossed lettering. The Colibri was the smallest portable gramophones made in the first decades of the 20th centuries. It was produced in Belgium and mounted Swiss-made motor and reproducer. Though being so small, this model can play a 10-inch record easily. In the words of Richard Kay from Lawrence's Auction House, the Colibri was the forerunner of the walkman and the iPod. The metal component parts than make up this particular gramophone are in excellent condition, with no signs of rust or wear. One of them bear the serial number 20925 clearly engraved in the metal. This antique Colibri pocket gramophone is an exclusive item, perfect to complete a good collection of musical antiques. Dimensions (Folded): Width: 3.6 in / 9 cm. Depth: 4.8 in / 12 cm. Height: 3.6 in / 9 cm.
