Antique European safe made in the middle of the 20th century. This is a curious vintage item, rare and in good condition. The safe is made of metal, but its outside has been carefully painted so it simulates mahogany wood. Inside the box is lacquered in a deep vibrant red color, which is very well preserved. This safe is a nice item from the mid 20th century that keeps all the charm that was typical for the time. The safe keeps the original silvery metal handle, attached to the front panel of the item. This handle is elegantly curved and molded, and the metal is engraved with nice decorative designs. The lock and the key are also the original ones. The safe is made of painted metal: the outside is painted in a dark red color with a black glaze that has been applied in horizontal lines, simulating wood veneer. The red color of the background and the black lines remind us of some noble woods such as mahogany or rosewood. The outside is embellished with golden decorative details. The sides bear slim rectangles that frame the panels, while the lid boasts baroque-style motives in the corners. The finish shows some signs of the trace of time, only logical for such an antique piece that surely was commonly used. The left side has lost the golden decoration and the finish simulating wood is somewhat washed out, and we could think that probably this side was in contact with some other surface years ago. However, this signs are undoubtedly part of this attractive pieces life, and turn it into a perfect acquisition worthy of the best collection of curious antiques from the 20th century.
