Antique Rheinmetall Mechanical Calculator Model IIc. Germany, 1925

Fine antique Rheinmetall mechanical calculator model IIc, made in Germany in 1925 and in great working order. All the keys and operational elements of this machine move softly, which turns its use into a really nice experience for the user. Today the calculator can be used to perform additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions with accurate results, just like the first day. It shows a very particular design, similar the typewriters made by the same brand: the keyboard stands on an inclined black metal foot, functional and ergonomic. The red, white and black bakelite keys stand out on the green background, while the results appear in the top carriage. At the left bottom corner, we can see the embossed brand name Rheinmetall with the logo. The black enameled finish which covers the machine’s body is finely preserved, showing only slight signs of wear which remind us of its past.

This antique Rheinmetall mechanical calculator model IIc is a real collector’s piece which stands out for its fine-looking presence and good working order.

Rheinmetall Typewriters History

Rheinmetall typewriters were made by the German company of the same name, founded in 1890 to manufacture weapons and artillery pieces. Before World War I the company was quite powerful but after the content it suffered a crisis that led the people in charge to widen their production including “objects for peace”. It was then when the factory started producing typewriters and pinwheel calculators. In 1933 Rheinmetall merged with A Borsig, an armament factory, and in 1938 the firm got closely related with the Nazi government as Hermann Goering acquired an important investment in it.
