Striking oil painting on a board panel, painted in the 1950s. This is a spectacular copy of the famous picture The Prince Baltasar Carlos on a Horse, painted by Diego de Velázquez and currently part of the collection of the Prado Museum. The picture is in great condition; it is a unique copy, wonderfully painted by a skillful unknown artist. It is beautifully framed, ready to be hang on the wall; it is perfect to provide a stately dining room, study or bedroom with a historic and charismatic detail. The oil picture is painted by hand with care and skill. The artist has been able to reproduce the transparent colors created by the inimitable Spanish artist; these transparencies can be easily appreciated in the landscape located at the background. The figure of the prince stands out for the great reproduction of the clothing and the golden accessories, as well as for the delicate face and hands. The horse shows the famous deformation that can also be seen in the original painting: Velázquez painted it this way because it was bound to be hung quite high. Seen from below, the horse looks much more realistic. This impressive picture, a copy of the portrait The Prince Baltasar Carlos on a horse, is ideal for those who do not have a few millions euro which would enable them to own an original paintingby Velázquez. Measurements: Width: 33.4 in / 85 cm. Height: 45.2 in / 115 cm.History of the picture The Prince Baltasar Carlos on a horse The Prince Baltasar Carlos on a horse is an oil picture painted by Diego de Velázquez in 1635. It is currently exposed in the Prado Museum. The history of this portrait starts when Felipe IV orders Velazquez a series of equestrian portraits to be shown in the Room of Kingdoms of the Palace of the Good Retire. Between the portraits of Felipe IV and Isabel of Borbón there was a gap (just over the rooms door) and they decided to hang a portrait of the prince Baltasar Carlos, also riding a horse but smaller in size. The most relevant part of the picture is surely the boys portrait, considered a master work of art of all times.
