Original and nice silver brooch with a central piece made of hand-painted porcelain. This lovely jewel was made in the 19th century and has survived to our days in wonderful condition. The solid silver base is made up of delicate filigree pieces that create an airy and elegant piece. The brooch is oval in shape and at the bottom has a silver motive composed of two symmetrical volutes and a flower between them. In the center, the big oval porcelain piece bears a hand-painted colorful motive depicting a maternity scene, probably the Virgin with the Child. This brooch is a highly original item, being not only a magnificent piece of jewelry but also a real work of art. The hand-painted miniature depicting a mother holding her child in her arms is very expressive and has been delicately performed. The vivid colors chosen by the artists are as bright and sharp as the first day, and the spontaneous stroke is also very remarkable. All these features are details that indicate that this piece was made by a skilful miniature artist. The scene of mother and son could very well be a religious image in which the figures would depict Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus. However both figures show delicate faces with nice and relaxed expressions. The deepness of the scene and its great colors have been perfectly harmonized in a quiet and calm image. The silver filigree frame that surrounds the porcelain provides even more aesthetical interest to the jewe. This delicate and exceptionally made brooch is an antique jewel, with timeless beauty that will look even finer with the trace of time.Measurements:Width: 35 mm.
