Antique Clock Maker's Pulling Machine. Complete. Nineteenth Century

Antique clockmakers lathe designed to manufacture clocks gears. This interesting item is dated in the 19th century; though being more than one century old, it has survived to our days in the excellent condition we can appreciate in the images. The lathe comes with all its original accessories, perfectly preserved and in working order. The lathes base is solid-mahogany wooden drawer that fulfills a double function: it supports the lathe screwed at the top and stores the accessory set inside the drawer. The lathe is designed to shape the gears used to manufacture clock movement and give them a perfect circular shape, before carving the teeth. The machines design is as simple as functional: made entirely of polished brass, it mounts a vertical stem screwed to the top of the wooden drawer. Over this stem we can see a series of mobile component parts among which a big wheel stands out. This wheel is connected to two smaller ones by a strong rope. All the parts are in amazing condition and show no signs of wear or rust. The wooden drawer is also very well preserved. The soft surface shows the fine patina created by the trace of time and the use, a feature that provides the wood with authenticity and charm. Inside the drawer we can see the complete accessory set resting on a dark-red velvet lining, original from the time. The set is composed of many bits, wheels and blades used to carve and shape the different gears. These pieces are all original and there is no one missing, being the icing on the cake for this fascinating piece.
