Antique Gold-Coin Scales. France, Circa 1800

Antique gold-coin scales made in France circa 1800, in good working order and with a complete weigh set. The scales come in their original storing case, together with the weighs. Both the case and the set are in fine condition: outside it shows clear signs of wear, logical in such an antique item, but the inner red velvet lining is finely preserved. The weighs are designed for different types of antique gold coins, mostly French but also Austrian and Italian. Each one bears the engraved name of the coin to be weighed in capital letters. The scales are quite simple: they are composed of a beam and two pans which hang from strings. In order to use it, it has to be hung from a stable top hook.
