Wonderful antique hunting dagger, authentic and made in Spain in the 18th century. The dagger mounts a signed steel blade and a steel, brass and bone hilt. This is a very decorative and elegant weapon that has survived to our days in excellent condition in spite of being more than two centuries old. We know it is a hunting dagger for the hunting-related motives engraved in the bone grip. The dagger shows off a stylized and fine design, with all the decorative potential provided for its lovely combination of materials. The daggers steel blade shows no signs of rust and remains in good condition, with just some places slightly darkened by the trace of time and use. This feature provides the weapon with a special attractive and reinforces its antique condition. The steel bears two engraved inscriptions, one at each side. They are composed of capital letters and are accompanied by delicate schematic decorative motives. The inscriptions are somewhat worn but they can still be seen, and this detail adds a beauty and originality bonus to the piece. But surely, the most remarkable part of this hunting dagger is the hilt. It is made of bone-covered steel with slightly curved brass cross-guard. The quillons are ended in circular shapes and are especially good-looking. The brass remains in great condition, being shiny and even. The bone grip bears a hand-engraved decoration: it depicts a still life with a hare, a hunting haversack and other hunting-related items. The pommel that trims the hilt is made of steel and shaped like a cup. This magnificent hunting dagger will shine in the most complete and interesting collection of antique weapons.
