This awesome cavalry sword is an authentic and original piece. It was made in Spain in the 18th century so it is a really ancient article. The sword is more than two hundred years old and has survived to our days in good condition. The grip is slightly loose and moves a little but otherwise the sword is well preserved and is a really decorative piece. It is completely made of steel; the metal surface only shows slight signs of rust that provide the sword with a wonderful antique patina. The swords blade is long, stylized, straight and pointed. The hilt is made of steel too: it shows a vessel-like shape and preserves all its component parts. The cross-guard bears two marks clearly stamped in the metal surface. These marks were probably made by the man who forged the sword. The hilt is beautiful: the two quillons that make up the cross-guard branch out at the ends and curve towards different directions. The quillons are intertwined with the vessel-shaped piece; all these pieces make up a wonderful design. One of the quillons extends towards the pommel that trims the grip, extending the vessel-shaped hilt. The grip is also made of steel; instead of the classic wooden or leather grip reinforced by a twisted wire, it is a spindle-shaped piece with grooves engraved in its surface. The grooves are designed to improve the grip. Both the grip and the pommel show off an interesting iron work and are a great finishing touch for this stunning cavalry sword, more than two centuries old. All the lovers of war and historic antiques will appreciate the beauty of this amazing cavalry sword. Measurements: Total Length: 43.3 in /110 cm. Length of the Blade: 35.8 in / 91 cm.
