This amazing piece is a replica of a French sapper sword from the Napoleonic Empire period. The sword that we can see in these photographs was made in the 20th century and remains in great condition. It is a very decorative sword, with a great charm and in quite well preserved. It comes with its original scabbard, made in detail. The machete is made of steel and mounts a brass hilt with engraved and molding decorations. The scabbard, on the other hand, has brass reinforcement pieces. Overall, this lovely article is a high-quality replica, a first-class item. The swords blade is sligthly curved and shows a menacing serrated edge. The metal remains in good condition, with no traces of rust or wear. The hilt is a gorgeous element, made of brass and with a cross-guard composed of two slim, short and straight quillons and a tapered grip trimmed with an eagles head shaped pomel. At the center of the cross-guard we can see two engraved lions heads (one at each side), and the quillons are ended by dogs heads. The eagles head is quite remarkable for the high attention to detail it shows. The scabbard mounts golden-brass locket and chape, both decorated with slim parallel horizontal pairs of lines. The locket also shows an embossed detail that depicts a lions face and matches the decoration of the hilt. Measurements: Machete: Length: 39.5 in /100.5 cm. Scabbard: 33 in / 84 cm. .
