Fine antique saber for Light-Cavalry Officer, made in Spain in the 19th century, well preserved and authentic piece decorated with hand-engraved motives and inscriptions in the blade. The saber is in good condition and keeps all its parts, showing off the lovely patina that the trace of time and use provide the most special antiques with. The blades edges are also quite well preserved, with no dents or flaws, and the engraved motives that embellish it remain visible and neat. At the blade we can see the inscription I.G.B. engraved in the steel, inside a cartouche, probably the initials of the sabers owners name. Slightly separated from this inscription there is a fine and simple floral motive and a more complex coat-of-arms. At the other side of the blade we can see the same hand-engraved motives except for the initials, substituted by a schematic decorative detail. The hilt is good-looking and sober, composed of a cross-guard and D-guard in an only piece. The metal element that makes up this structure curves to trim the grip and protect its rear side. The grip preserves the original leather wrapping, attached to the base by the ancient twisted wire. The simple and stylish look of the antique saber for cavalry officer evokes past battles and heroic times. It is a very special piece worthy of a good museum of the art of war. Measurements: Sword: 39.63 in / 99 cm. Blade: 33 in / 84 cm.
