Very antique and rare sword made in Germany and possible from the time of Empress Victoria of Prussia. The sword is very well preserved considering that it was made circa 1880. This is probably a ceremonial or gala sword. It is entirely original from the time and comes with its leather scabbard. The swords hilt is made of brass and is fully decorated with embossed motifs: at the decorative oval brass plate that we can see under the cross-guard there is an embossed coat of arms with a V and an imperial crown. It could be the coat of arms of Empress Victoria of Prussia, but it has not yet been identified. The hilt bears brass a pommel with the shape of an imperial crown and D-guard decorated with engraved strips. The D-guard extends until the cross and is ended by a curved upper quillon. The black-leather scabbard preserves the brass locket and chape: the leather has been repaired with black tape. This rare sword, probably from the time of Empress Victoria of Prussia, will shine in a collection or a dining room for its ancient age and stately design. Measurements: Total Length: 38 in / 95 cm. Blade Length: 32.8 in / 82 cm.
