Striking antique Cavalry Officers sword, probably made in Belgium or Germany and dated circa 1840. The sword preserves all its original beauty and nobility, enhanced by the gorgeous patina created by the trace of time. The steel blade is entirely covered with acid etchings, somewhat worn by the time and the use but still visible. The hilt is a fine piece with a lions head-shaped pommel, a true classical design. From the lions mouth emerge three branches that meet at the cross, creating a lovely and simple design. The wooden grip preserves the original twisted wire. Perfect to shine on the wall of a stately dining room or as part of a collection of weapons, this antique cavalry officers sword still preserves its original charm. Measurements: Total Length: 40.8 in / 102 cm. Blade Length: 35.6 in / 89 cm.
