Rare antique Chassepot sword bayonet model 1866, with marks of Alex Coppel and made in Germany in the 19th century. This fine weapon is in excellent condition and comes with its original scabbard. The bayonet sword mounts a wavy yataghan-style steel blade, similar to the ones mounted by certain old-time Turkish knives named after commander and locksmith Osman Bey, also known as Yatagan Baba, and the village he founded. The weapon is intended to be attached to a Chassepot rifle model 1886 and bears the mark of Alex Coppel: a scale with the initials A C. Both the hilt and the scabbard bear engraved serial numbers; some of them are composed of Arab numerals and other look like Persian or Egyptian symbols. Probably this bayonet sword belonged first to the German army and was later sold to some Middle East country; these nations used to buy used military material to European countries. For its good condition and attractive, this antique Chassepot bayonet sword model 1866 will stand out in any room or showcase. Dimensions: Blade Length: 22.44 in / 57 cm.
