Antique French sword for artillery non-commissioned officer model 1816, made in France in 1827 and in outstanding condition. This sword was forged during the Restoration of the French monarchy and is nearly 200 years old. It is a beautiful and complete weapon, with a greatly-preserved hilt of simply and fine design. The cross-guard is divided in two parts: the rear one is foldable and bears a hand-engraved anagram. The front guard is fixed and is adorned with the embossed artillery symbol (a flaming bomb). Close to the hilt, the blade bears a hand-engraved inscription with the manufacturers name (Manufacture Royale de Klingenthal) and the date, September 1827. The scabbard which protects the sword is made of black leather and mounts brass locket and chape. It is in excellent condition, with regular and solid seams and polished and shiny metal parts.
