Amazing antique saber for senior light cavalry officer type AN XI, possibly made in France during the First Empire. This is a custom-made model in excellent condition, with polished brass hilt and scabbard and decorated blade. Although the French army had similar custom sabers and this one was located in France, it is not a standard model and similar custom models were used in other European countries, such as Spain, Germany or Belgium; at the time, there were many countries that used similar custom sabers in their army. The hilt includes a lions head pommel, from whose mouth emerge the quillons which make up the guard and the cross-guard. The blade shows delicate hand-engraved motifs, enhanced by a subtle gold finish. The brass scabbard bears a fine engraved wavy decoration and is well preserved, being the ideal complement for this fantastic saber. For its remarkable beauty and good condition, this antique saber for senior light cavalry officer type AN XI is worthy to be exhibited in a museum of military antiques. Dimensions: Blade Length: 33.07 in / 84 cm. Total Length: 37.79 in / 96 cm.
