Antique Root Wood Liquor Cabinet with Original Glassware. France, 1900

Impressive antique solid-wooden liquor cabinet covered of burl wood of different shades and with brass details. The cabinet was made in France circa 1900 and has been cleaned and restored, so today shows off the amazing look that we can appreciate in the images. All the parts and metalwork of this small piece of furniture are original from the period, including the hinges and the lock. This is in perfect working order. The wood preserves the original French-polish finish, carefully restored too in order to regain its glow and charm. Outside the liquor cabinet is covered by blur-wooden veneers in two shades of brown. At the front, back and top sides we can see the same decoration: in the center of a light-colored wooden background stands out a darker motives with straight and round edges. The curved foldable sides show the same combination of veneers, but in this case there are three darker vertical stripes on the light-colored background. Inside the cabinet is also covered of blur wood combined with some ebony-finished parts. The liquor cabinet hides an antique hand-carved glassware set, strikingly delicate and charming. The set is composed of four bottles and fourteen cups, all of them decorated with finely engraved motives. The pieces are stored in a brass stand with compartments and hooks that keep the set stable and safe, so the glassware can be exposed in all its glory. In order to do so, the cabinet can be completely opened: the front, the top and the sides mount hinges that make it possible to remove them and let the inside exposed. The delicate brass legs and details that embellish this piece are the crowning touch for this article, as gorgeous as evocative.
