This fine article is an antique aneroid barometer with hand-carved solid walnut wooden box, including a thermometer and in working order. The barometer comes from France and was made circa 1900: the hand-carved box has been fully restored in order to show off the lovely look that we can appreciate in the images. This is a wall-hanging item: the barometer is at the bottom half, crowned by the thermometer located on top. They are both in perfect working order and great aesthetic condition. The barometers box is made of solid walnut wood with a beautiful golden-brown color. It is profusely carved by hand: the design mixes a naturalist style (similar to the Black Forest style) with a sober and neoclassic decoration. The bottom part of the box that frames the barometer shows carved details depicting garlands with leaves and fruits; on the other hand, the top part (framing the thermometer) is decorated with carved pillars, balusters and railings of a classic architectural style. This style fusion provides the barometer with a great attractive and creates a very singular piece. The wood preserves the original French-polish finish, carefully restored and in optimal condition. The metal barometer located at the bottom of the box shows the inner mechanism, fine and delicate, and keeps the original French weather-related inscriptions. The white porcelain mercury thermometer shows the original scale and the words THERMOMÉTRE CENTIGRADE clearly printed on the surface. This stunning antique aneroid barometer will shine in a glazed balcony or a stylish and charismatic dining room. Measurements: Width: 11.4 in / 29 cm. Height: 29.9 in / 76 cm.
