Antique Solid Silver Cigar Case. Circa 1900

Antique silver cigar case made circa 1900, finely preserved and covered by engraved and embossed motifs all over its surface. This delicate piece has no hallmarks but we can guarantee it is made of silver, so a written document is provided stating this fact. For its size and format, this case was probably bound to store cigars or cigarettes. It is composed of two parts which fit one inside the other, making up a safe and reliable closure. The embossed decoration is elegant and eclectic, mixing different styles – from Pompeiian (the bands and the fauns’ heads) to Art Deco, including a romantic central scene with a couple riding a galloping horse too. This scene is repeated four times and is engraved on both sides of the two parts of the case. The decoration is well preserved and can be perfectly appreciated, with no signs of wear or dull parts.
