Extraordinary Antique Binocular Microscope. Super Complete. England, Circa 1880

Extraordinary antique binocular microscope made in England circa 1880 and in excellent condition. This device stands out for its ancient age (nearly 150 years), amazing look and important size. It comes in its original mahogany storing case with lock (the key is missing) and comes with a great number of old-time accessories in fine condition too. Just like the accessories, the microscope is made of brass – the metal preserves the original transparent varnish which provides it with a wonderful warm patina. The prism is finely preserved and so are the double-sided mirror (concave and straight) and the rack-and-pinion systems. These move softly, enabling a great user’s experience.

The accessories accompanying the microscope include 2 sets of eyepieces, 4 objectives, a 'bull's eye' concentration lens, a live box for observing live specimens, glass slides and coverslips for sample preparation, as well as other accessories. One of the objectives’ sleeves bears the engraved name of the English manufacturer H. STEWARD. The microscope also mounts a mechanical sample plate to move samples without touching them and with micrometric accuracy. As for the storing case, it is made of solid mahogany wood and remains greatly preserved. It has a top handle, an inside drawer with two pulls, wooden supports for the accessories and a metal plate with the name of the English manufacturer, J. & B. Solomons of London.

As imposing as authentic, this extraordinary antique binocular microscope will shine in a stylish study, bookshelf or collection.
