General History of Spain from primitive times to the death of Ferdinand VII. Continued from that time to the present day by D. Juan Valera with the collaboration of D. Andrés Borrego and D. Antonio Pirala.Printed in Barcelona by Montaner y Simón from 1889 to 1991.Complete work.25 volumes comprising the general history of Spain from primitive times to the advent of the first Republic. Stamped binding, with engraved leather spine and nerves, the three cuts in gilt, spines somewhat rubbed and volume number 25 a slight loss, but the binding strong and the interior in good general condition, without humidity. 400 pp (approx. per volume), 23x16 cm. Profusely illustrated with drawings, 200 b/w plates in text, 77 color chromolithographs, 2 damaged from having been glued to the previous leaf, 11 maps, 11 facsimiles and a portrait outside the text. There is an abundance of prints using silver and gold color, which I have not been able to reflect in my photos. This work is considered to be the most complete history of 19th century Spain. For obvious reasons I have not photographed more than a representation of the plates.
