The firm was founded in Scramberg, Baden-Würtenberg (Germany) by Erhand Junghans who in 1862 opened a factory named Junghans and Tobler in partnership with his brother-in-law, Jakob Zeller-Tobler. The company has produced all kind of clocks and watches, from wall clocks to wristwatch and also mantel clocks like the one we can see in these images. This clocks box is made of solid wood and its design imitates a classic house, with gabled roof and side columns. The wood shows a deep veneer and a beautiful dark red color with a well preserved finish. The face is made of golden metal and white porcelain with nice black Arab numbers. It is framed by four golden metal detains, one in each corner, that create complicate volutes. At the back of the clock there is a door that lets us reach the movement: it keeps all its original component parts and works like new. This amazing Junghans mantel clock will fill the classiest room with its presence and great sound.Measurements: Width: 14.7 in/36 cm.
