Striking mantel pendulum clock made in France in the late 19th century. It has 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the halves. The clock is in wonderful condition and works like the first day: the movement has been fully checked and cleaned. The box is a nice example of decorative work and is composed of neoclassical style filigrees and adorns. At the front there is a circular door closed by an original glass that protects the clocks face, made of white porcelain with enameled black Roman numbers. At the center of the clocks face we can see a flower-shaped metal filigree piece with the hands attached to it. Between the numbers there are small enamel red details, elegant and discreet. Under the face we can see a carving that depicts a medieval knight that kills a dragon with his spear; it is probably an image of Saint George killing the beast according to the ancient legend. The bronze box stands on five small curved and engraved legs, stylish and airy. The base located just over them is embellished with a renaissance-style border. The whole box is decorated with hand-engraved filigrees that boast classic and medieval carvings. Every corner of the clock has a vertical needle-shaped adorn crowned by pieces that look like fleur-de-lis. The top of the clock is trimmed by a dome-shaped piece crowned by a vase with volutes. The clocks rear is engraved with a simple net-shaped decoration composed of diamonds. It has a glass circular door that lets us see the inner movement and the pendulum bob. This classy and antique clock is nearly a work of art, an exclusive piece that will fill the most elegant room with personality.Measurements: Width: 18.5 in/30 cm.
