Set of Clock and Pair of Candlesticks in Gilded Bronze. France, S. XIX. Working

This impressive mantel clock and candelabra set made of golden bronze comes from France, where it was originally manufactured in the late 19th century. It is a spectacular piece that stands out because of its baroque decoration and the elegance of all its components. The clock has 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the halves. In order to guarantee its perfect operation, the movement has been fine-tuned so the clock works perfectly. Both the clocks box and the candelabra are made of golden bronze and are in excellent condition, preserving all their original pieces and parts.The clocks box stands of four volute-shaped curved legs, all hand-engraved. The decoration that embellishes the whole piece is composed of acanthus leaves that create complex decorative groups symmetrically disposed in an elegant and balanced way. The clocks face stands out in the center of the piece: it is made of white porcelain with black hand-painted Roman numbers and delicate red details between them. There is a French inscription in the face that reads: HORLOGERIE DE LA POSTE Ah. LEEMANS BRUXELLES. The hands are dark and straight, and boast a simple design. At the rear, a circular door lets us reach the movement and the pendulum bob; we can see the serial number 1010 engraved in the metal.The baroque decoration of the clock matches the accompanying candelabras look. The two pieces are quite elegant and have five lights each. The central candleholders elevate over the rest and are covered by bronze caps. The caps are crowned by a fleur-de-lis filigree motive. Each piece is composed of a solid rectangular base that stands on four legs; a central vase-shaped body and a vertical stem from which four arms with their corresponding lights emerge.
