Striking antique bronze mantel clock, fully baroque in style and in amazing condition. This is a French piece made in the 19th century that in spite of being quite old has survived to our days surprisingly well preserved. The clock has 8-day Paris movement and chimes the hours and the halves. It has been completely fine-tuned so it can provide a perfect working order. This piece boasts a stylized and airy design, with a rectangular box that stands on four delicate legs. The box has side hanging handles and a lovely cup-shaped crowning piece. The mentioned legs are adorned with classic vegetal motives engraved by hand. The base that rests on them has a central detail composed of three hanging pieces decorated with geometric designs. The clocks box is located on the base and supports the big white pocelain face with black Arab numbers. It bears a nice golden metal detail in the middle. The handles are located on both sides of the box; they are designed as metal rings that hang from the jaws of two lions heads. Just over the box we can see a fine engraved piece crowned by the top piece: a nice cup flanked by two sphinxes. The whole item exudes elegance and class, making up a spectacular piece. At the back of the box there is a circular door that lets us reach the movement. This bears the serial number 14767 and the letter B engraved in the metal, together with a circular mark that shows the manufacturers name: JAPY FRERES. This mantel clock striking design and quality movement are reasons enough to consider it a first-class item. Measurements: Width: 11 in/28 cm. Height: 18.1 in/46 cm.
