This stunning article is a mantel alarm clock with hand-carved solid wooden box and in perfect working order. In spite its excellent condition, the clock is more than one hundred years old: it was made in 1900 by the prestigious watchmaker company Junghans. The clocks movement works perfectly and is as flawless as the day it was manufactured. So we can say that this article is both a functional and a decorative piece. We know that this is a Junghans alarm clock because of the monogram engraved in the movement: a capital J inserted into an 8-pointed star. The company started out in 1861, when Erhard Junghans founded it in the German city of Schramberg together with his brother-in-law, Jakob Zeller-Tobler. Though in the beginning the factory specialized in component parts for clock movements, later the owners decided to make their own clocks and watches. The first models produced under the Junghans brand were launched in 1866. Nowadays Junghans is still a leader company in the field of watchmaking. This fine alarm clock has solid walnut wooden box, shaped like a small temple and with hand-engraved and turned decoration. It boasts a simple style of neoclassic inspiration and symmetrical disposition. The center dial is signed by Junghans and is the original. It is decorated with a profusion of volutes and decorative details, and at the top there's a winged putty. It has black Roman numbers, a secondary hand and the top and an alarm clock at the bottom. This delicate alarm clock is an exclusive piece that will provide any room with style and distinction. Measurements: Width: 6.6 in/17 cm. Height: 11.2 in/28.5 cm.
