This stylish mantel clock, a decorative and original item, is an authentic piece signed by the clockmaker company Junghans. It was made in Germany in the 1930s and remains in very good condition. The veneered and hand-carved wooden box has been restored and now boasts a balanced and elegant beauty. On the other hand, the clocks movement has also been fully cleaned and tuned in order to guarantee a perfect performance. The clock chimes the hours and the halves with a clean deep sound that enhances its beautiful design. The wooden box is partially covered by walnut veneer, while some parts are decorated with hand-carved volutes and simple details. It stands on four wooden legs that provide it with lightness and stability. The clocks face is beige with black Arab numbers and metal straight hands. At the top we can see the Junghans logo, two crossed arrows: this symbol can also be seen engraved in the clocks movement, reachable through a rear door. The movement also bears the engraved serial number 164736 / 130. Under the clocks face, a small window lets us see the golden-brass pendulum bob. Its timeless elegance turns this mantel clock into a real classic, perfect to add a touch of charm to any mantelpiece, sideboard or shelf. Measurements: Width: 16.9 in / 43 cm. The company began to produce wristwatches in 1927. Beginning in the 1950s, the Bauhaus designer Max Bill created clocks and watches for Junghans and the relationship lasted many years. A remarkable example of his work is a wall clock he designed in 1956/57 that is in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art (New York). In 1962 Bill also created mechanical wristwatches for Junghans impressive timepieces, not only for their aesthetic design, but also their precision. In the late 1980s, Junghans introduced the first radio-controlled table clock on the world market. In 1990 the first radio-controlled wristwatch, called the MEGA 1, followed. In 1995 Junghans presented a solar powered watch with ceramic housing. Together with the Japanese clock maker Seiko, Junghans developed a globally oriented wristwatch that automatically sets the local time in respective time zones.
